3/16/2010 · Handbrake adjustment 1955 X Type Jaguar. There really should not be any adjustment necessary, the parking brake is self adjusting. When you first install new pads It may take several puls of the lever to get them set up. The cables MUST be absolutely free moving, for the system to work.

Using the Pipe Pliers compress the Hand brake activator until you can remove the cable from its seat. Push the tip of the cable down and pull the cable back gently to remove the hand brake cable from the caliper assembly.

The hand brake is self adjusting there is no actual adjustment for the handbrake . It is normal for the hand brake lever to be high however, of course there is high or really high. If your lever is abnormally high and not holding the vehicle when lever is fully up something is wrong either the self adjusters are not working or brakes or cables have worn or stretched.
