I used the manual and have done many top ends on other types of bikes but this is my first Kawasaki. When I got to the part of removing the power valve actuator arm, the manual said to take a wrench and turn it clockwise to remove the arm linkage from the power valve .


The stock power valve on a KX85 only lowers the exhaust port to a minimum resulting in less bottom end power . The Pro Circuit Power Valve lowers the exhaust port height to where it should be, resulting in huge gains in the bottom end while maintaining peak horsepower. Pro Circuit’s Billet Stainless Power Valve combined with the Pro Circuit Governor Spring provides a major improvement over the stock.

10-6 BRAKES Brake Lever and Pedal Brake Lever Play Adjustment • Adjust the front brake lever [A] to suit you. • Loosen the adjuster locknut [C] and turn the adjuster [D] to either side. • After adjustment , tighten the locknut to the specified torque.


MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENT Carburetor Idle Speed Adjustment Idle speed adjustment is carried out using the air screw and idle adjusting screw. • Start the engine and warm it up thoroughly. • First turn the air screw in until it is lightly seated, then back it out 1 1/2 turns (KX85C).


For 2 strokes make sure the power valve is adjusted properly. Your airbox is metering air and is the first step in a process of consuming air and fuel. The system requires the resistance of the air filter in order to get the proper vacuum to SUCK the fuel out of the float bowl and create the proper venturi effect.
